I have seen the future. In a couple of days a new tablet will be announced that blows the iPad out of the water. Yup, I’m calling the Touch Book an iPad killer. This press release is dated March 2nd.
I’m particularly impressed with the four internal USB ports. No more dongles hanging off the side of your machine. It’s already got WiFi buit in, but you might need to add a thumbdrive, microSD reader, or some other accessory. You know the Mega L33t H4rdw4r3 H4X0rz like to find internal USB ports.
As for operating systems, you’ll have your choice of Android, Chrome OS, Ubuntu Linux, Gentoo Linux, and MeeGo (Maemo) coming soon. COOL! I’d guess the hardware would also work for the Wild Ducks Project?
9.7 inch screen, OMAP3 processor, HD video capable, 10 hour battery life, four internal USB ports, three external USB, HDMI, magnetic (!!!), and laser beams. OK, maybe not laser beams, but freaking magnets? Reasonably cool.
As for pricing, $299 for the tablet. $399 also gets you the keyboard with an extra battery to turn it into a 2 pound netbook. I just ordered one. Head on over to Always Innovating to check it out.

Tony Peric (fone frenzy) is joining tnkgrl while I’m taking a break due to real-life stuff, and needing to fix my motorcycle instead of editing/uploading video. Big Ups to Tony of FoneFrenzy for picking up my slack. What, what??
This week we discussed the Nokia Booklet 3G, the Google Nexus One, the Nokia N97 mini, the Nokia 7705 (GSM version) Nukia O1 (KIRF), amongst other things!
Enjoy

In this episode of tlkng wth tnkgrl, we talk about the Samsung Behold II, Symbian S60V5 vs Maemo, batteries, and which mobile device you should buy your loved ones for Christmas. It’s a week old, because we had to spend $100 to have the MP4 video fixed after the camera died and didn’t write the file correctly. Enjoy!
Make sure to check out tnkgrl’s blog, tnkgrl Mobile. You can also listen to the audio version and subscribe to the podcast over at tnkgrl Mobile.
I recently had dinner with Julien Fourgeaud of the Symbian Foundation. Julien was in town to participate in the keynote panel discussion at a Navigation and Location Services conference. We had a nice chat about the present and future of the Symbian Foundation. We cover the migration from S60 to SF2 to SF3, upcoming hardware, QT, and new manufacturers on board with Symbian. Enjoy!
Make sure you also check out Ideas.symbian.org. They’re making a HUGE effort to get community feedback rolled into future versions of Symbian. This website provides direct input from end users to be heard by the developers of Symbian. This is a Big Deal.
A little background on Julien : He was with Nokia in Finland for 2 years, and was the Leader for 3rd party apps integration on the N97. Now he’s the Roadmap Catalyst for the Symbian Foundation in London. He also races cars, parachutes and paraglides, and is an all-around ActionMan with a kung-fu grip. What a ruler! You really should follow Julien on Twitter.
In this episode of tlkng wth tnkgrl we mostly talk about Android, the devices, the OS, and where it’s going. Filmed on Burnal Mountain in San Francisco on Sunday November 8th, so it’s a few days old now. Leave a comment on anything we discuss in the video. We want your feedback so we can make this better for everyone! Enjoy.

This was filmed last weekend, and editing HD footage down to web sized (500MB) videos still sucks. It took me 10 renders to get this the right size with decent quality. It’s back to SD for me! Enjoy.
Special thanks goes out to tnkgrl of tnkgrl Mobile. You can find the audio version of twtg16 on tnkgrl’s site!
