Well, I think the "slower" processor isn't that bad. I've played with the N97 on two occasions, and it didn't feel slow either time. Also because S60 multitasks, you can leave apps running in the background, so you don't need to fully launch an app every time you switch to it.

A faster processor is nice, but it will aways shorten the battery life. Sure, everybody wants a 4" screen, GPS, 3G and all, but that's gotta be a thick device for the battery to last all day. There are tradeoffs to cramming that much hardware into your pocket.

I'd recommend waiting for the reviews of the final shipping N97 before you decide. I'm confident the N97 will be a big hit for Nokia.

Hey Matthew,

I've just heard the Nokia N97 has a processor that can go up to 434 Mhz. Is this a reason not to get this phone? Because it seems pretty fast to me. I think the processor might be a hype just like the amount of megapixels on camera ( the flash and lens are more important).

What is your view about this? I think the OS of the N97 is better compatible with a lower processor than for instance a phone that runs on Windows Mobile.

I'm just doubting to get this phone.

This was filmed on a Kodak Zi6, which is a little pocketable 720P camera. It's similar to a flip, but it uses AA batteries. The quality is actually degraded here, because Vimeo crunches the video down from the original source file.

I can't wait until a couple years from now, when many high-end phones will have at least 720p recording. Couple that with easy uploads to facebook and youtube, and we should see some exciting applications!

I think the N97 should be at least this good. Even the N95 video looks pretty good in good lighting. The n86 is looking like a champ for video too. We'll hafta wait and see. : )

Awesome video. I think the N97 will rock our world. I'm only wondering if the OVI store will actually be a competitor to the Apple Store.

By the way, what kind of phone were you using. The quality of your video is great! How many megapixels? And do you think the N97 will alsof be able to record in this kind of quality?
