Symbian releases roadmap for OS

The newly reformed Symbian Foundation, after being purchased by Nokia in 2008, have announced the roadmap for thier OS release schedule. They’re aiming for a first release of the new Symbian Foundation OS V2 to deveolpers in 1H09, with devices on the market by 4Q09. Subsiquent releases will be rolled out every six months, bringing consummers V4 devices towards the end of 2010.
The Sony Ericson Idou, shown at Mobile World Congress, is the first device announced that will run Symbian Foundation V2 software. Developers itching to try the software, it’s based heavily on S60V5.1, which the current SDK supports. Download from dev.nokia.com/forum
